I am sick. I am totally dead after two hard weekends. At first I had to go to Kalajoki where the National Weightlifting Championships took place. I had no idea of what kind of result I would be able to do because my back was hurting the whole February.
Anyway, on Friday I felt myself pretty ok when I arrived to our cottage. My competition was on Sunday and I lifted in the morning. My Bodyweight was 66,11 kg and I was happy – ”just” three kilos to drop for the powerlfiting nationals.

My competition was terrible – I was so stressed! I was afraid that I would fail my snatch, but there was no problem with my starter at 72 kilos. It was pretty easy as was my second attempt, 75 kilos. With the last one I tried 78 kilos but it was too much this time.
After snatch my back started to hurt. But I solved the problem with Capsicam and magnesium oil but I was still very uncertain about the clean and jerk. When Mika told me that I need to start with 92 kilos I was terrified. It was too much! I asked him to drop my started to 90 kilos and he did it.
90 kilos was my most difficult lift but I got 3 white lights. 95 kilos was my second attempt and it was much easier than my first one. Mika told me after my second attempt that this could be the day when I am supposed to try 100 kilos. So i tried and lifted it. ! ! ! Check the video in the end.

After the competition I checked out my cleans from the Analyzer and I noticed something funny… The pull height of my first and my last attemp were similar! So could it be said, that there are still kilos to gather?

On Monday I flew back to Helsinki and finally I was back home. I also had some good news – I have found a new apartment and I will move on the 1st of April .. On the other hand I am pretty sad. I need to live alone without Jani. Thank god he promised me that we will start to go to Pilates lessons together <3 :) It feels so weird to live without him.. I have gotten used to hearing the sounds of NHL and the dirty socks under our kitchens table :D but seriously, I will miss him a lot but this way I do not need a car and it doesn’t take that long to go to Ruskeasuo.
The whole week I just tried to drop my weight and on Friday morning it was 65,8 kilos. I stopped drinking and after my work day it was already 64,4 kilos. I went to sauna and I manage to get my goal – 63,5 kilos and it was time to sleep. But, I could not do that. I had fever the whole night and I felt terrible. First time I needed to compete with one and a half hours’ sleep…

My bodyweight was 62,90 on the scale and warming up went well. I decided to start with easy lifts and my starters were 130/77,5/150. Squats were all easy and I hope I will manage to get my next goal, 160 kilos in Classic World Championship. Bench was terrible like always because I have not trained it at all. I was very disappointed to my DL but like my coach said, if you do not train sumo dl it is difficult to do your best on the stage.
We had a big conversation when I was waiting for doping test. We talked about WL Europeans and we had the same opinion that it was a good decision to skip Europeans this time. Now we have time to increase my strength and at the same time concentrate on WL technique. We talked about this year’s competitions. and below is a list of my coming goals:
- Powerlifting Classis World Championship in Russua
- Universiade in Kazan
- WC in WL in Poland
- Team Competition in Powerlifting
I will take a part in the WC in WL if I manage to do a good enough result for that. So it is not sure yet. But now I have some kind of idea about this year and the future seems to be ok. :)
My back is better now and I am waiting to start my trainings. Like I told you I will move closer to my training place. I decided to sell my car and start sparing some money. I will need it if I want to concentrate on training in the future.
Second decision was, that after Russia WC I will stop dieting. The year 2013’s last diet will take a place in May and in June and then I will start to gather some muscle. I will not eat only pizzas so I will try to do it with a more clever way. I need to take care that my trainings include high enough volume and that the food’s quality is great. We will see then how I will look afterwards and if it is still possible to compete in 63 kilos weight category. But 2014 I will not compete in powerlifting (under 63 kilos… ) this year will be very important to me if I am thinking about 2015 World championship in Finland. (PL).

In the end I will add some sad news. Seppo Hyökki, the man who solved my back problems and whose tips have helped me and Jani a lot passed away on Friday. I will miss you Seppo <3
But now. The lifts from my weekends. Enjoy!
Anni
