Puerto Rico´s World Championships will start tomorrow. I have sometimes found myself missing powerlifting. I have had a lot of goals and I have trained a lot to be the strongest lifter and now I need to watch the competition at home :(. It was a surprise to me how easy my decision was. I knew during the summer that I have to graduate. Equipment trainings need several hours every day, versus the 1.5 hours that my weightlifting trainings take. I also had an opportunity to take part in the Student World Championships in Israel and I decided to check that card. First time I put my studies, work and personal economy before powerlifting. It was a good decision but still.. I would want to be in Puerto Rico now.
Some of you have asked if I am competing in powerlifting as well or am I now only a weightlifter. I will be both as long as it is possible. I talked with Karoliina Lundahl about mixing weightlifting and powerlifting and her opinion was to do both. So my next powerlifting competition will be in 24.11. in Tampere where the student championships will be. After that I might lift in the Team Competition in Kankaanpää.
As you might have seen my strength has increased even thought I have not trained “powerlifting”. I am squatting less than before because I do not need stronger legs right now, instead I need a better technique in weightlifting. I need to think what I will do with the Classic Powerlifting Finnish Championship. I will lift there but my weight class remains a mystery. I am weighting a lot now. :) I kept my promise to Jere and continued eating after Sweden. I am weighting now 66-67 kilos so it is still easy to drop under 63 kilos but I do not know if it is necessary. We will see.
Powerlifting… I am missing all my friends. For example Stian and Tutta, Damir and Mattias. I have so many good memories. Hopefully I manage to compete in one EQ competition some time next year. It might be fun :)
It was not only good things that I have gotten from powerlifting. Sometimes people you are trusting the most might do your life pretty messy. That was one reason to concentrate on training and working for a while. Powerlifting was always the reason that kept me alive but in the year 2012 everything changed. The balance of my life was gone and I needed to start over. Weightlifting was a good option.
This summer has been quite different. I have trained a lot and met new people. I have new friends and a lot of new ideas about training. I have concentrated on coaching more as well and I have to say that I am pretty proud of my guys :) Allu has developed a lot and now I have a new great task – I am managing Jani’s training. Jani Rainela is my roommate – 2 times World Champion and owner of 14 World records. Jani stopped training when he went to army. After that he has lost weight more than 50 kilos. But the passion is still there.
But it’s all about Jani. More information about his trainings can be found here. My life then! :D
Winter is coming or actually it is here now but I am not sorry about that. Cold evenings with candles are totally fine! Huh where should I begin?
Last week I spent the end of the week in Rovaniemi. There was +10 degrees in Helsinki and -2 in Rovaniemi. I needed to train my harder trainings there but it went pretty well. I snatched 80 kgs :) The good thing about travelling is meeting new people. I had so great time in Rovaniemi with the RoRe lifters. PICS!
Rovaniemi was a nice experience and I might need to go there again :)
Last week I spent in Tampere where an Energy Fair was arranged. I trained a bit but I have problems with my upper back – my muscles are too tight. The good thing was that Kari managed to return my courage back and I finally snatched pretty ok lifts on Friday. It took 1,5 hours and a lot of curse words. And the best part is that Jani promised to fix my muscle problems during this week :)
OH I ALMOST FORGOT!
I bought a new pair of weightlifting shoes ;)
I have some new clothes as well but I will add pictures later. My life is running quite normally here in Helsinki, just too much to study still but hopefully it will end before the year 2013.
In the end is one random training video.
Cheers!
